For the last few weeks, I stayed over at a great house in Cairns. Well actually at Trinity Beach, which is quite far outside of the city center. Most of the backpackers start or end their trip in Cairns along the East Coast. I found my host this time through Sandy Hauser, who also lives in this house.
Helping out by making music videos
I didn’t meet Sandy before but we were following each other on Facebook for a while. She came up with the idea that I could help her housemates by making videos for them in return for a free stay over. Ivy and Isaac are both musicians are just starting with their first paid gigs. So a good portfolio of quality pictures was needed. We had so much fun together that I even ended up here for three weeks, the longest stay over so far!
Climbing in palm trees with locals
Sandy and I also got invited to go on a trip to the reef by some friends of her; Chilli and Bryan. Instead of spending time on of the commercial boats, we enjoyed the day on a small boat and brought us to one of the smallest islands. This is why I love traveling with locals so much, they always know the best spots. Chili his profession is collecting coconuts out of palm trees (how cool is that!) and he teaches me how to climb as well.
ps, I’m taking a flight to Perth to join a tour all the way to Darwin. Keep u updated!
