Moet ik nou wel of niet op donderdag een bericht plaatsen? Werken links averechts? Hoe krijg ik meer bereik op Linkedin? Het zijn allemaal vragen waar ondernemers zich mee bezig houden. Althans een deel ervan. In deze blog neem ik je mee over mijn eigen ervaringen met online bereik.

Vorig jaar ging er namelijk één van mijn video’s viral. Binnen twee dagen had ik 262.000 weergaven en 192 commentaren. En dat zonder montage! Niet veel later tikte een vlog die ik heb gemaakt voor Omroep Gelderland zelfs een miljoen keer views aan! En dat klinkt heel leuk allemaal, maar als je geen impact maakt met jouw post, heeft het allemaal weinig zin.

Gebruik storytelling als marketingmiddel

 

 

Twee jaar lang reisde ik rond als digital nomad. Onderweg maakte ik videos voor touroperators, werkte ik aan mijn boek en leefde uit mijn koffer. Een geweldige tijd waarin ik volledige vrijheid ervaarde.

Zonder vaste verblijfplaatsen of werk wist ik toch een bestaan op te bouwen als filmmaker. Op een gegeven moment kwam ik terecht in Queenstown, de stad van de extreme bungeejumps.

Met een go pro in mijn hand en trillende knietjes, filmde ik mijn sprong.

Nog diezelfde avond plaatste ik het ruwe bestand online met de tekst: “dit is waarom ik minimalistisch leef. In plaats van de nieuwste televisie te kopen, leef ik al twee jaar in hetzelfde t-shirt. Leven zonder planing en angst voor het onbekende, maakt mij ultiem gelukkig.”

Impact maken met emotie

Impact maken kan natuurlijk ook op een hele andere manier. Zoals ik eerder beschreef is mijn vlog over Anthony een miljoen keer bekeken. Een dakloze jongen die “woont” in het park van Nijmegen. Een emotionele video waarin hij vertelt wat thuis voor hem betekent.

Nadat de Omroep mijn vlog had geplaatst, kregen we veel berichten van kijkers die Anthony wilde helpen. Iedereen die iets wilde doneren in de vorm van voedselpakketten of kleding werd gekoppeld aan de wijkagent.

Zelfs een half jaar later gebeurt dit nog steeds, iets waar ik erg dankbaar voor ben. De video is inmiddels meer dan één miljoen keer bekeken.

Hoe word je gezien als bedrijf?

Om gezien te worden als bedrijf in deze digitale jungle is het verstandig om een afwisseling te maken; bedrijfsnieuws, blog artikelen en leuke content van je personeel. Denk aan vrijdagmiddagborrels, verhalen van klanten of bedrijfsuitjes. Het belangrijkste is om dicht bij jezelf te blijven en continue te denken in verhalen. Niets is zo vervelend dan maar blijven pushen waarom klanten jouw product moeten kopen. Ga juist op zoek naar de impact die je hebt gehad op je klanten.

Mensen onthouden verhalen niet alleen beter, op deze manier begrijpen ze de inhoud sneller. Vaak hoor ik dat het lastig is om goede verhalen te vinden, maar elk bedrijf is gestart met een idee. Vertel jouw verhaal vanaf het idee. Waar zat je toen je op het idee kwam? Welke struggles ben je onderweg tegengekomen? Één van de meest gelezen pagina’s op websites is het “over ons” gedeelte. Mijn belangrijkste tip: Durf jezelf laten zien en wees eerlijk in je verhaal.
