Beter fotograferen met je drone

Zoals je eerder hebt kunnen lezen, werk ik veel met mijn drone, genaamd “Mary”. Een DJI Air SC. Voor bijna elke klant vlieg ik wel een rondje in de lucht. Meestal het bedrijfspand of bijvoorbeeld een route onderweg. Maar in mijn vrije tijd vind ik het leuk om met mijn drone erop uit te gaan en ermee te fotograferen.

Tijdens elke reis gaat de drone wel mee in het vliegtuig. Hoewel het steeds lastiger wordt om te kunnen vliegen in het buitenland, nog altijd vind ik genoeg prachtige landschappen die ik vastleg en vervolgens plaats op Instagram. Om jou te helpen bij het maken van betere drone foto’s, heb ik vijf tips voor je opgesteld:

Tip 1: Fotografeer in RAW

Veel fotografen fotograferen in raw. Dit is een zwaarder bestand dan jpg waarin je meer bewerkingen kan toepassen. Vaak staan de standaard instellingen op jpg bij drone’s. Pas deze daarom aan bij je instellingen.

In je nabewerking kun je dan beter aan de slag met je hooglichten en donkere partijen zonder dat deze doorslaan. Overigens helpt het tijdens het fotograferen om gebruik te maken van filter. Zie tip 4.

Tip 2: Zet je camera recht omlaag

Sinds de opkomst van drone kijken we ineens heel anders naar landschappen. Tijdens mijn eerste vlucht draaide ik de lens naar beneden en was ik direct verkocht van wat ik op beeld zag. Je kijkt recht naar beneden op een landschap of een object.

Hierdoor worden bijvoorbeeld patronen of andere details zichtbaar die vaak niet opvallen. Een bijkomend voordeel is dat je geen rekening hoeft te houden met de horizon. Let vooral wel op de grafische elementen die je tegen kan komen.

Tip 3: Maak composities met detail

Sinds de komst van drone is er een compleet nieuwe dementie gaande qua composities. Ineens zagen we bomen, stranden en gebouwen vanuit compleet andere hoeken. Een nieuwe stijl was geboren. Wat ik zo tof vind aan drone fotografie, is dat je heel grafisch te werk kunt gaan.

Om je beeld interessanter te maken, kun je een raster aanzetten. Door een raster aan te zetten, heb je een hulplijn om je compositie nog sterker te maken. 

Ken je de regel van derde? Het is de bedoeling dat het onderwerp van je foto op een snijpunten van de lijnen terecht komt.

Tip 4: Neem filters mee

Een setje filter zit standaard in mijn dronekoffer, gevuld met meerdere ND filters en een CPL filter. Een Neutral Density filter vermindert de hoeveelheid licht die door de lens komt. Hier kun je spelen met de sluitertijd.

Om meer kleur en contrast te creeeren kun je gebruik maken van een CPL filter. Deze haalt ook de luchtschitteringen eruit van bijvoorbeeld water of spiegelende objecten. Dit filtert vermindert dus niet de lichtopname. 

Tip 5: Blijf jezelf ontwikkelen

Goed leren fotograferen lukt nou eenmaal niet binnen één dag. Net zoals het leren fotograferen met een drone. Het onderzoeken van de juiste instellingen, leren kijk naar composities en het bewerken van foto’s, neem er de tijd voor.

Zelf volg ik een aantal Instagram accounts om inspiratie op te doen. Onder de hastags “#fromwhereidrone” kom je terecht op leuke kanalen. Tot slot, blijf kritisch naar je eigen werk en vraag anderen om feedback.

After a transaction, your private information (credit cards, social security numbers, financials, etc.) will not be kept on file for more than 60 days.
